E. Lundquist – My Wings with INDIA BLUE

While “Mirrors” is the opening track to Chasing My Reflections, it is “My Wings” that really allows you to settle into the spirit of this album. The track features India Blue, who offers so much levity in her vocal approach, giving you the feeling of floating through space, which matches the energy of her lyrics, referencing her wanting to fly home and take to the sky.

Blue is a contemporary songwriter based in Glasgow, Scotland. She’s not only a musician and solo songwriter, but also fronts the London-based jazz band Azamiah.

The track itself, in demo form, wasn’t something Lundquist was particularly high on, but the label heard something in the track and encouraged Lundquist not to put it to rest and to send it Blue’s way. He sent over a batch of tunes, and this was the one she chose to write to.

There is a gentleness and whimsical nature to her delivery; it feels as if it is holding your hand through a spiritual experience. It’s the warm butter on a piece of perfectly baked bread. You can’t get enough of this feeling, and it gives reason to want to listen to the whole record.
